Each year the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) schedules a huge truck enforcement blitz with Roadside Inspections. Get ready they will occur September 9 — 11
Driver requirements will be the focus. This will include checking the FMCSA Clearinghouse to see if the driver has any outstanding violations that have been reported to the Clearinghouse. Any unresolved driver violations in the Clearinghouse will cause the driver to be removed from service. You may have to go pick up one of your trucks that may become stranded.
Inspectors will do the roadside checks on thousands of trucks over the 72-hour period. As an employer you might want to make sure you DOT FMCSA business has registered in the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
The inspectors will also check that your DOT regulated driver is drivers enrolled in a federally compliant drug and alcohol testing program. If you don’t have a program, get one today – available with immediate service at: DOT Compliance & Consortium.
The inspectors will also check that of your drivers’ drug and alcohol violations being reported to the DOT Clearinghouse. It is also important that you are running all of the required pre-employment queries and annual Clearinghouse queries for your drivers. Do not avoid the Clearinghouse, your registrations will be checked.
